Opening Turtle Rescue Facility in Banbwe Forest Nursery, Zeebin Reserve Forest, Naungcho Township

A turtle rescue facility was constructed in Banbwe Forest Nursery, Zeebin Reserve Forest, Naungcho Township in collaboration between Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). The turtle rescue facility was donated by the TSA and transferred to Naungcho Township Forest Department. The opening ceremony of the turtle rescue centre was held on 6 December 2012. U Myint Sein, Deputy Director of Shan State Forest Department and Mr. Rick Hudson, Director of TSA delivered remarks at the ceremony.

The facility will accommodate turtles that confiscated from main wildlife trade route Mandalay-Muse Road. Confiscated turtle will receive necessary treatments in the facility and each species will be release in their respective habitats.
